While at Borders a couple weeks ago, I decided it was time to take a wander through the music section. I rarely ever do this; I don’t usually listen to “new-to-me” music. I usually end up just laughing at Simon and Garfunkel album artwork or something.

I’ve been listening to new-to-me music a lot lately. I’m just throwing all of my ideals out the window, aren’t I?

Before buying a cd, I ask myself a series of questions:

- Have I ever disliked this singer/band/pop group of questionable talent?
- Has this singer/band/pop group of questionable talent ever had a song featured in a television show I have watched once or twice or a million times? (I’ll spare you the 80’s/early 90’s music I’ve found myself listening to because of this, though.)
- Is there a person with a beard on the cover?

I’m not even kidding about the beard thing. I kind of wish I was. My mind, sometimes, is a scary place.

Here’s some music that recently made it through the screening process and is now in rotation on my Itunes playlist (I’m going to try to provide a link from each image to somewhere to listen to the music. we’ll see how this works):

I actually started making this a couple weeks ago, when I commented on one of her posts asking what songs reminded her of spring.

I figured if I was going to ask such a question, I’d better be able to answer it myself.

But then I forgot about it. Until this lady posted hers. So I started uploading songs, then … forgot about it.

And then she posted hers, and you know what?

Click here to listen to my muxtape, insane as it is. I will probably be embarrassed by some of my song choices soon, but I really didn’t think I could get away with uploading 311’s entire “Soundsystem” album and calling it a mix.

So, folks - that is what this season would sound like if you lived in my head, and I really don’t recommend trying that out. My head’s been a strange place to be these past couple of weeks.

Turn those into thumbnails, do some splash frames…

I hate that I spent so long trying to fix this design … and now I’m not even very fond of it. But whatever. The CSS is a mess of things that don’t need to be there, and I plan on fixing that at some point, but if they’re not hindering the display too badly, I’m not going to cry about it. It looks exactly like it’s supposed to (at this point, anyway - I’ve still got some things I want to do) in Firefox, but if you’re looking at it in IE, please pretend the gaps around the main content aren’t huge. I still can’t figure out what’s going on there, but…I might someday. Or not. I’m not too concerned if the only problem IE has with my website is spacing.

If you’re friends with me on, you may have noticed that I have completely lost my mind. Hahaha. The only radio station I ever listen to in the car I’m driving now is an oldies station (that’s what happens when your brand new mp3 stereo is still in an immobile, in-pieces car in a garage), and when I hear songs I like, I download them. The entire time I was working on this mess of a layout … well. My current playlist should tell the tale.

1. 10cc - The Things We Do For Love
2. Firefall - Just Remember I Love You
3. Crosby, Stills and Nash - Teach Your Children
4. Roy Orbison - Blue Bayou
5. Simon and Garfunkel - Mrs. Robinson
6. Midnight Oil - Beds are Burning
7. The Manhattan Transfer - Boy From New York City
8. Elton John - Sad Songs
9. Ricky Nelson - Garden Party
10. The Beach Boys - Wouldn’t It Be Nice
